Coolant level sensor replacement

Coolant level sensor replacement

The coolant sensor is usually located in the expansion tank. Its malfunction may cause overheating of the cooling system and, consequently, cracking of the cylinder head.

Tips

  • You should check the freezing point of the coolant
  • You should regularly check the colour and consistency of the coolant - oil in the coolant is a sign that the tightness of the seal between the cylinder head and the engine block has been compromised

Scope of services

  • Dumping as much coolant as is necessary to expose the sensor
  • Disconnecting the sensor from the electrical system
  • Removing the faulty sensor
  • Fitting a new sensor in
  • Connecting the system to the electrical system
  • Attending to the electric plug
  • Filling the expansion tank with the coolant to the recommended level
  • Checking the system for leaks
