ABS system repair

The ABS system (Anti-Lock Braking System) prevents the wheels from locking during sudden braking. It also facilitates controlling the car during skidding. A malfunctioning ABS system is particularly dangerous in winter and while driving on a wet surface. The ABS system is the basic anti-skid system fitted as a standard feature on all passenger cars since 2006.

Tips

  • If the ABS warning light goes on, visit a garage as soon as possible to have the system checked and repaired, if necessary – after all, you and your passengers depend on the system for your safety.
  • Check the brake fluid level regularly as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Fitting bigger wheels often necessitates calibrating the ABS system
  • ABS sensor errors may be caused e.g. by a faulty CV joint.

Scope of services

  • Checking the system's fuses,
  • Checking the system sensor connections (located by the wheels, over where the system is connected)
  • Disconnecting the brake hoses
  • Disconnecting the electrical cables running to the modulator
  • Replacing the faulty modulator (ABS pump)
  • Reconnecting the brake hoses
  • Refilling the system with brake fluid
  • Venting the braking system
