Intake manifold gasket replacement

Intake manifold gasket replacement

The inlet manifold gasket seals the contact surface between the manifold and the cylinder head. If worn, the gasket should be replaced as soon as possible. If the engine intakes an additional, uncontrolled dose of air, the sensors located in the inlet system will provide false data. This may affect the operation of the computer controlling the engine and cause contamination of the cylinders.

Tips

  • A leaking inlet system results in an uneven operation of the engine in neutral gear, its poorer performance in general and a hissing sound coming out of the manifold
  • When having the manifold gasket changed don't forget to have the air filter checked

Scope of services

  • Disconnecting the inlet hose
  • Removing the inlet manifold
  • Cleaning the contact surface between the manifold and the cylinder head
  • fitting the manifold gasket in
  • Fitting the inlet manifold in
  • Reconnecting inlet hose
