ABS system repair
The ABS system (Anti-Lock Braking System) prevents the wheels from locking during sudden braking. It also facilitates controlling the car during skidding. A malfunctioning ABS system is particularly dangerous in winter and while driving on a wet surface. The ABS system is the basic anti-skid system fitted as a standard feature on all passenger cars since 2006.
Tips
- If the ABS warning light goes on, visit a garage as soon as possible to have the system checked and repaired, if necessary – after all, you and your passengers depend on the system for your safety.
- Check the brake fluid level regularly as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Fitting bigger wheels often necessitates calibrating the ABS system
- ABS sensor errors may be caused e.g. by a faulty CV joint.
Scope of services
- Checking the system's fuses,
- Checking the system sensor connections (located by the wheels, over where the system is connected)
- Disconnecting the brake hoses
- Disconnecting the electrical cables running to the modulator
